As a team of climbers scaled the icy sides of Mount Everest
carrying the Olympic torch to the summit, Chinese broadcaster
CCTV used a Euphonix System 5-B to broadcast live this monumental
event. Clearly heard panting for their breath during the
broadcast, the five torchbearers passed the flame to team
captain, Nyima Cering, who proclaimed "One world, one dream," the
2008 Olympic slogan.
With 16 different channels of programming, CCTV is mainland
China’s major television broadcaster. As one of only
six Chinese broadcast companies to be selected to publicly
broadcast the Beijing Olympics, CCTV has been eagerly preparing
for the upcoming Olympic Games. With ten Euphonix on-air
mixing systems installed for on-air, HDTV and OB productions,
CCTV is prepped and ready to go.
“Here at Euphonix we take great pride in being a major
supplier of audio consoles to CCTV since 1992 and we couldn’t
be more proud to be involved in this live broadcast from
the peak of Mount Everest,” Said Russell Waite, Executive
Vice President of Sales and Product Marketing.
The System 5-B digital broadcast console is specifically
configured for live and live-to-tape production with dual
redundant power supplies and redundant DSP SuperCore. At
NAB Euphonix introduced a high-density Fiber Stagebox Solution.
Ideal for any sports or music application, each modular remote
Stagebox can handle up to 56 mic preamps and can be fitted
with combinations of the modular I/O to match the exact requirements
of the particular application. |
