After a undergoing a major renovation this year, Bohus
Sound Studios based in Gothenburg, Sweden has opened its
Studio 2 featuring a new 24-fader Euphonix System 5 digital
audio mixing console. The System 5 replaces an analog Harrison
Series 12 console.
“We chose the Euphonix System 5
because we wanted the best sound and flexibility in a small
package,” said Tobias Lindell, Bohus Producer
and Engineer. ”We are primarily in the music recording and mixing industry
and the System 5 delivers the wide and punchy sound that used to only be found
in big analog consoles.”
“Our first project on our new Euphonix was
Lexington Bridge featuring Snoop Dogg continued Lindell. “And
we were very happy with our results. The System 5 sounded
great; it was very reliable, and fast. The project went flawlessly.”
The
System 5 is connected to 56-channels of Pro Tools HD4 via
MADI. Complementing studio gear includes Focal SM8 and Lindell
Audio Ref5 Speakers, Lexicon 480’s,
an AMS Rmx16 as well as an array of studio microphones in
including Neumann U47, U67, U87, Sony C800, and Royer SF12’s.
“I
love the transparency of the System 5’s mic preamps.
With them, I am able to capture the essence of the artist
which just makes for better and more satisfying sessions,” continued
Lindell, whose many credits include, Mustasch, Rachel Stevens
and Stefan Andersson.
Built in 1976, Bohus Studio was designed by Tom Hidley and
Eastlake Audio. Over the years, the studio has hosted some
of the most influential groups in Swedish musical history including
Status Quo, ABBA, Magnus Uggla and many more.
