Euphonix, a world leader in large-format mixing consoles
and control surfaces, will be showing the new 100% secure
digital signal processing (DSP) SuperCore for its Max Air
and System 5-B on-air audio mixing systems as well as the
S5 Fusion HDTV audio post mixing system. First introduced
at IBC in September 2006 and now shipping to clients, the
DSP SuperCore can be seen in action at NAB2007 April 16-19.
The new lightweight and compact DF66 DSP SuperCore is the
primary signal-processing engine and router for System 5
and Max Air digital mixing consoles. For broadcast installations,
a backup DSP SuperCore runs in parallel with the primary
unit — ensuring complete redundancy of the MADI I/O,
router and DSP processing. Both DSP SuperCores mirror each
other and, in the event the main unit fails, the processing
seamlessly switches to the backup unit.

“Broadcasters’ most precious asset is their
live signal,” Mike Franklin, Euphonix’s VP of
Broadcast Sales Americas, said. “The DSP SuperCore
offers the industry’s first 100% redundant system,
which should quickly become standard for studios and top
mixing professionals whose live audio cannot be interrupted.”
The DSP SuperCore comprises a system board and up to six
plug-in SP662 DSP cards with enough horsepower, system functionality
and reliability to satisfy today’s demanding broadcast
applications. It supports over 300 signal paths per SuperCore,
a large broadcast audio router and MADI I/O, providing up
to 1,536x1,536 paths at 48KHz in and out of the core. The
core is hardware compatible with 192/384kHz.
The new DSP SuperCore is also shipping with the new S5 Fusion
HDTV audio post mixing system, which controls both DSP and
DAW tracks from the same surface. Euphonix will launch S5
Fusion at NAB.
The DSP SuperCore 100% secure changeover system
can be seen in operation with the Max Air and the System
5-B at booth #N4021 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention
Center from April 16-19.
