New DF70 DSP SuperCore for System 5 - Over 450 Channels
Euphonix, a world leader in large format digital audio consoles, media controllers, and peripherals today announced multiple sales of the new DSP SuperCore engine for their System 5 digital audio mixing consoles. Film composers James Newton Howard, John Powell, and Hans Zimmer will each upgrade their studios with the new DF70 DSP SuperCore to increase DSP channel counts for their music and audio post applications.
“The new DF70 is revolutionary in size. It’s small yet is still extremely powerful, making the console’s back-end super compact while still allowing additional features,” said Mike Franklin Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. “With the DF70, a Euphonix dual-operator mixing system takes up only 5RU where it used to be 2 to 3 racks of gear. For music applications it means more tracks at 96Khz; for the film applications there can never be enough channels as projects become larger and more sophisticated each year.”

Additionally, producer, director Peter Jackson will be upgrading two of his main film dubbing stages to a DF70’s at his Park Road Post studios in New Zealand. The renovation to Park Road, which also includes the addition of a fourth Euphonix System 5 - installed stage, is slated for completion this summer.
“Peter Jackson movies, such as Lord of the Rings, always include elaborate soundtracks and sound design, so the DF70 is the ideal product for his facility, it’s compact, efficient, easy to configure and still offers the higher channel count he requires to satisfy the mixing needs of his epic films,” concluded Franklin.

The new DF70 now supports over 450 channels @ 48KHz or 220 @ 96KHz and comes with six different mixer models that define different combinations of buses, with over 450 channels, up to 64 mix buses, up to 24 aux sends and up to 24 external inputs. The DF70 supports up to 8 SP663 cards for the highest channel count applications and also includes up to 32 MADI I/O for a total of 2,048 x 2,048 signal paths managed by the console’s PatchNet routing software.
For markets requiring no more than 334 channels, Euphonix still offers the DF66 DSP SuperCore, which also supports dual DSP SuperCore 100% redundancy system for broadcasters and can handle up to six of the same DSP SP663 cards as the DF70.
The first two DF70s have already been installed at Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions.
