Euphonix Digital Mixing Systems Comparison

Overview of System Differences and Applications.

System 5-B

System 5-B is the top of the line digital audio mixing system designed for live broadcast and TV production applications with up to 96 faders plus 8 assignable group faders and can support over 350 DSP channels and a dedicated mix-minus bus with mix-minus outputs from each channel. It has dual power supplies for the DSP SuperCore, Studio Computer and suface modules. It includes 100% redundant DSP SuperCore (DF66), MADI I/O and router for the ultimate in secure on-air performance.

System 5-BP

System 5-BP includes all the features of the System 5-B, without a mix minus bus and dedicated channel talkback, but also includes dynamic mix automation and machine control for broadcast applications where the console is used for both on-air and audio-post applications - the best of both worlds. System 5-BP includes an automation and machine control panel at the bottom of the center section CM401T module. EuCon Hybrid option allows the console to control external DAWs making it a truly multi-purpose mixing system. System 5-BP is basically a System 5 with dual redundant power supplies for the surface modules and 100% redundant DSP.

Max Air

Max Air includes the exact same back-end as the System 5-B, limited to 4 DSP cards (160 channels), but with a more compact surface for applications where control room space and budget constraints are an issue. With a central touch screen and central SuperChannel the system is easy to operate and all the controls are within easy reach because of its short front-to-back dimension.

S5 Fusion

The S5 Fusion is a System 5 control surface with a more compact DSP back-end, lighter frame, and dynamic mix automation. It includes the same monitoring & machine control as System 5. It does not support redundancy for the DSP, MADI I/O and router. For this reason it is a very cost effective digital audio mixing solution coming in at a price point lower than all the other models. S5 Fusion is a perfect on-air, music mixing or audio post mixing solution where cost and space are an issue. S5 Fusion includes EuCon Hybrid for controlling multiple external DAWs.

System 5

System 5 is the standard digital audio mixing system without the 100% redundancy for the DSP, MADI I/O and router, and does not include a dedicated mix minus bus - it is a System 5-BP without dual power supplies for the surface modules. Because there is no need for redundant DSP the System 5's DSP Core (DF70) can support over 450 channels and a larger audio router. This system is used for music and post applications, and for recording environments within a broadcast facility it is a perfect choice. EuCon Hybrid option allows the console to control multiple external DAWs.
